Log+Key at the Car Dealership: A Success Stories

A large group of car dealerships in North Rhine-Westphalia has introduced Log+Key across several locations — with tangible success: greater oversight, less effort and safer handling of vehicle keys in everyday work. We are delighted to be able to share this account of their experience.


🔍 Many keys, little oversight

As in many car dealerships, the challenge here too was managing the sheer number of vehicle keys. A wide range of departments, from the workshop and vehicle reception through to sales and administration, all used the same keys. Until now, checkout and return were handled manually. Documentation? Time-consuming, error-prone and often incomplete. The lack of transparency in these processes raised security concerns. There was an urgent need for a solution that would provide transparency and control over key movements.


💪 The switch to Log+Key and the benefits

Working closely with the dealership's teams, we implemented Log+Key at every location. Our solution was integrated seamlessly into the existing processes. The changeover ran smoothly and without disrupting day-to-day business.

Centralised management: All key movements are now recorded digitally and managed centrally. Key inventory and status can be viewed transparently
User-friendly interface: The intuitive operation meant that staff could integrate Log+Key into their daily work without extensive training
Security: Features such as scheduling return dates and confirming actions with signatures ensure security and traceability

The results became apparent after a short time: less time wasted searching, clearer responsibilities, better planning. The processes became not only more efficient but also safer — for example through GDPR-compliant data storage in German data centres. The digital solution brought not only oversight but also confidence in the daily processes.

➕ New feedback feature: location details on return

Our direct exchange with the dealership has since even given rise to a new feature: at the team's request, we added the option to document the vehicle's exact parking space directly when returning the key. This saves valuable time every day and fits seamlessly into the existing location features. We report on how this came about and what difference it makes in the follow-up article on the new function.
